SALT MUSEUM
History & Culture
Salt has been produced in Nin since Roman times and the local community is very proud of its traditional production according to the highest ecological standards.
About one hundred thousand yearly visitors of the onsite museum can learn more about unique salt production and buy souvenirs in its lovely gift shop.
Here you can find a wide range of salt products as well as taste and purchase the famous flower of salt, an exquisite delicacy considered by many as "the caviar of salt" and universally appreciated by the pickiest of gourmets around the globe. Those who work in the local saltworks take great pride in the fact that here salt is not produced by machines, but rather harvested directly from salt pans, which are shaped by the influence of the sun, sea and wind and enriched by diverse wildlife and nearby healing mud.
